What are the benefits of facial?
A facial is about rejuvenating the skin and keeping it healthy. It helps increase circulation and stimulates. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur. Keeping your skin hydrated will help keep the skin moist and stop dehydration. Skin type is determined by pore size, tone, and texture. It is also determined by oil production, called sebum.
What type of facial is best for me?
There are currently 3 types of facials offered. The basic is more focused for prepping the skin for peels or prevention. Acneic facials are for people experiencing problems with acne and blemishes. Anti-aging is about brightening, moisturizing and fading hyperpigmentation. Even though three are offered there are many options within the three because everyone's skin is different, and different products are customized for your skin and concerns. Also your skin changes. It can change due to the season, nutrition, medical conditions, medications, environment, stress, changes in hormonal level, and physical activity. So each facial may be different depending on your current skin condition.
How often should I have a facial?
Depending on what you are trying to achieve it can be as often as 2-3 weeks to every 6-8 weeks. This will normally be discussed during the consultation, and can also vary. You may start out getting facials twice a month, but following your home care regimen changes that to once a month. On the other hand you may be getting facials every six weeks, but you change birth control that wreaks havoc on your skin, so you come in every 3 weeks to combat it.
What’s the best way to prolong the results of my facial?
It is really important to keep up with your home regimen. Maintenance is important. Without it what you accomplish during facials or peels can be undone. Discussion of what you should be using at home will be discussed with you during your visit.
I broke out after my facial! WHY????
A facial will detoxify the skin, and sometimes the detoxification process continues on after the facial. This will sometimes cause blemishes because it is coming to the surface. You also have to remember your skin is more sensitive afterwards, so if you are not protecting it you are susceptible to bacteria and dirt getting in. Another reason is if you don't have a regular regimen prior to a facial or you are using the wrong products it can shock the skin and cause breakouts. If you have a special event you are getting ready for you should get your facial 7 to 10 days beforehand or make time to do two facials.
